Yuvan Shanka Raja Medley 1 - Enthanuyir Thozhiye Kadhal Valarthen Thuli Thuli Thuli Mazhaiyai with Chords

Happy birthday to one of my favourite Tamil film industry music directors, Yuvan Shakar Raja.

I came to really enjoy his music especially in my teen years.

It was difficult to choose my songs for this but hopefully I can share more of his amazing songs with you in the future. You can see how his songs are reaching across various audiences and languages below. I have focussed on covering the Tamil versions as I can replicate the pronunciation well.

Ennul Inikkum Inbame - என்னுள் இனிக்கும் இன்பமே - Amira Gill Amrit Ramnath Acapella Cover

 Eid Mubarak to those celebrating!

Ever since I heard this song, I kept playing it on repeat, I’ve linked the original song and the stories behind it in my blog which you can find the description.

‘Ennul Inikkum Inbame’ speaks of the omniscient, omnipresent power that is felt.

On this song, the creators commented, "We were left with the overwhelming feeling that this album, although already so diverse and multifaceted in nature, needed just a little something more to amp it up. Ennul Inikkum Inbame is the product of this feeling."

"Inspired by Qawwali music, a huge source of inspiration and knowledge for us both, Ennul Inikkum Inbame is the first independent Qawwali-inspired Tamizh song, and we’re super thrilled to share it with you! Featuring some of our favourite musicians, Saurabh Joshi, Rohith Jayaraman, Sreerag, Sayee and Abinandan, this is the song that we found to be a fitting end to the album, and we really hope you feel the same."

"Abinandan David is the second guitarist on the EP. Rithu Vysakh is a strings player, composer, musician from Kerala. The violins in ‘Ennul Inikkum Inbame’ were played by Sayee Rakshith. MT Aditya Srinivasan is an incredibly diverse percussionist from Chennai. Saurabh Joshi is an accomplished multi-percussionist and sound engineer hailing from Dehradun."

‘Ennul Inikkum Inbame’ was mixed and mastered by Saurabh Joshi.

English Lyrics:

Ennul Inikkum Inbame

Ennul Suvaikkum Inbame

Ul Ninrolirvai

Ennul Niraivai

Ullam Paramporule

Ennul Uraiyum Unmaiye

Oliyum Nee Oliyum Nee

Akamum Nee Puramum Nee

Translation:

The joy within me that is sweet

The joy within me that I taste

You shine within me

You fill me up

The inheritance of my heart

The truth that prevails within me

You are the sound, you are the light

You are within and outside

What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong - World Music Abi Acapella Ukulele

Happy Earth Day! 🌍 (22nd April)

Can you guess the different languages in the song?

Comment to let me know!

In this cover I sang some harmonies and played the ukulele.

Original English Lyrics and Tamil Translation:

I see trees of green, red roses too
[I see them bloom for me and you
Emakkaha malarakanden]
And I think to myself what a wonderful world

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
[The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
Palgeun nal eudon bam]
And I think to myself what a wonderful world

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying [I love you Wo ai ni]

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
[And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Für mich ist die Welt wundervoll]
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world

Chinnan Chiru Kiliye சின்னஞ்சிறு கிளியே கண்ணம்மா - Ragamalika - Bharathiyar - Long version

On the occasion of Bharathiyar's 100 year death anniversary, I've performed the long version of his popular Ragamalika, Chinnan Chiru Kiliye.

Bharathiyar is an example of an open minded individual. Throughout his life he was inspired by others and conveyed great messages through his works.

This particular song was originally meant to be in Bhairavi however it is popular in it's multi raga form.

Though this song is said to describe Bharathi's feelings for a child, he has employed double-meanings which may indicate his wife, Chellamma. They were both married at a young age.

It took me time to hunt down and learn the full version and I'm glad I was able to learn this and hopefully pass it on to more people.

This is my first video where I accompany my singing with the keyboard.

I'm including rough translations and rough notations which can be used as guides.

Anbendra mazhaiyile - Roshan Hui Raat - Aparanji Mathanudi - Tamil English Hindi Telugu Cover

Merry Christmas! Here's a multilingual cover to celebrate in many languages.

This cover represents three songs originally performed by Anuradha Sriram under the music direction of AR Rahman. The melody is based in Anantha Bhairavi raga which has an endearing effect. The details of the original songs can be found under the page for Minsara Kanavu.

I added rough translations of the Tamil version for the English lyrics.

The Moon Represents My Heart - Ni wen Wo Ai - 月亮代表我的心 - Carnatic Version

Happy mid-autumn festival to those who celebrate it!

Zhong Qiu Jie Kuai Le - Pin Yin for Mandarin
中 秋 節 快 樂 - Mandarin

中秋節快樂 - Cantonese

I've decided to release this video just before the occasion of the mid-autumn festival, otherwise known as the moon festival. As well as other names for this festival, it is also known as Chuseok and Tsukimi in Korea and Japan respectively.

This is a famous classic song that is known to be close to people's hearts over the years.

This beautiful song was made popular by Teresa Teng!

I've linked a few pages for you to find out more about the legacy that this song carries

Let me know if you learnt something new!

This was my first Chinese song that I learnt. I was introduced it by a member of world music society during my days at university.

I found the ukulele chords on this site.

I performed part of the song in this video and added 1 line each in English and Tamil.

I also improvised in the carnatic music style as an interlude.

Many other content creators have covered this song and also made multilingual versions of this.

The lyrics of the part of the song that I covered:

Ni wen wo ai
ni you duo shen
Wo ai ni you ji fen
Wo di qing ye zhen,
wo di ai ue zhen
Yue liang dai biao wo de xin

Ni wen wo ai
ni you duo shen
Wo ai ni you ji fen
Wo di qing bu yi,
Wo de ai bu bian
Yue liang dai biao wo de xin

English Translation from another website:

You ask me how deep my love for you is,
How much I really love you…
My affection is real.
My love is real.
The moon represents my heart.

You ask me how deep my love for you is,
How much I really love you…
My affection does not waver,
My love will not change.
The moon represents my heart.

* Just one soft kiss
is enough to move my heart.
A period of time when our affection was deep,
Has made me miss you until now.

* You ask me how deep my love for you is,
How much I really love you.

* ** Go think about it.
Go and have a look [at the moon],
The moon represents my heart.
