Enathuyire - English and Tamil version - எனதுயிரே

I really enjoy the calming nature of this Tamil song which is from the Tamil film Bheema.



The original song was performed by Nikhil Mathew, Chinmayi, Sadhana Sargam and Sowmya Raoh while it was composed by Harris Jeyaraj and penned by Yugabharathi.

For those interested in how I played the Ukulele;

• I tuned the string down by 2 semitones.
• Played a mixture of Am, Em, G and F chords.

While I was recording this my earphones kept falling out of my ears so did so many retakes - I stopped counting them!

பூமித்தாயின் குழந்தைகளே Bhoomi Thaayin

Sri Lanka has had a long and recent history of struggles. Many lives have been affected.

This Tamil song was written by Pulavar Sivanathan and is set in Raga Tilang. It has literal and metaphorical imagery that puts the struggles of the people into perspective.

I'm dedicating this video to victims of the Sri Lanka bombings. Check out my blogpost for the lyrics and translations for this song.

Kaatrinile Varum Geetham காற்றினிலே வரும் கீதம்

This song is golden. Originally performed by carnatic vocalist, M.S. Subbulakshmi for the Tamil motion picture, Meera in 1945, this song was written by Kalki Krishnamoorthy.

The literal translation of the song title is "music that comes with the wind". The titular character, Meera, describes the flute music with imagery such as the wilted trees come to life when the music is heard.

This is a #OneSongManyLanguages video with the original song being in Korean and English. I swapped some translations of the verses for the original and added a Tamil translation of "Come back home."

The original song is an interesting mix of the EDM, reggae, trap and pop genres.

Unfortunately 2NE1 is disbanded but their music will continue to be heard by many around the world.
